Like Kim from New Jersey
"Today I visited Briarwood for the second time, as a dear friend adopted a new pup! It was good to be back in that beautiful area. Our Murphy joined our family in July of 2018 - he has been a joy and a love ever since, and is probably the best dog we’ve ever had. We couldn’t love him any more... he’s grown to be about 65 lbs. and is the sweetest, most gentle guy. He loves all other dogs, children, hiking and belly and ear scratches. If you sit on the floor chances are he will sit on your lap with a big smile. He sleeps on his back, and is truly a character. He does not like squirrels ... loves to chase deer (but seems convinced they will come back and play with him). We are grateful for him and Briarwood, for raising such beautiful pups in an environment that fosters the sweet gentle temperaments that are paramount qualities of their dogs. -Thank you so much, K & P" 11/28/20 |

Don't know much about Sheepadoodles? No problem. Keep reading for some great information about this fantastic breed.
What is a Standard Sheepadoodle and where do they come from?
A Sheepadoodle is a cross between a Standard Poodle and an Old English Sheepdog.
A standard poodle is a dog that typically stands over 15 inches (38 cm) at the shoulder, with a coat of moderately long hair that can be either curly or corded. An Old English Sheepdog is a large herding dog, also standing over 15 inches (38 cm) at the shoulder, with a shaggy coat of grey, black, and white hair.
|
While the exact origins of the breed are unknown, it is believed that the first Sheepadoodles were bred in the United States in the 1980s.
Today, Sheepadoodles are prized for their hypoallergenic coats and their friendly, laid-back temperament. Though they can vary in size, the most standard sheepadoodle size is a full grown dog that weighs between 40 and 80 pounds. And as for height, the standard sheepadoodle size is between 18 and 24 inches tall at the shoulder. They typically have a thick, curly coat that can be either black, brown, white, or a mix of colors. Thanks to their intelligence and trainability, Sheepadoodles make excellent companions for families with children. They also get along well with other pets, making them a popular choice for those looking for a laid-back canine friend.

Though there is some slight variation for the standard sheepadoodle size, the best way to predict a full grown standard sheepadoodle puppy's final size is to look at their parents.
What is their temperament like?
Sheepadoodles are known for their friendly, laid-back temperament. They are intelligent and trainable dogs that make excellent companions for families with children. They also get along well with other pets, making them a popular choice for those looking for a laid-back canine friend. Thanks to their easygoing nature, Sheepadoodles are often used as therapy dogs or service dogs. They are also active dogs that enjoy playing fetch and going for long walks. With proper exercise and training, Sheepadoodles make wonderful family pets.
What are the health concerns associated with Sheepadoodles, and how long do they live for on average?
Sheepadoodles are a relatively new breed of dog, created by crossing a Standard Poodle with an Old English Sheepdog. They are outgoing and friendly, and they make great family pets. However, there are some health concerns associated with the breed. For example, they are susceptible to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as von Willebrand's disease. Sheepadoodles also have a higher than average rate of cancer. However, with proper care and regular vet check-ups, most Sheepadoodles enjoy long, healthy lives. On average, a full grown standard sheepadoodle can live for 12-15 years.
How much does a Sheepadoodle puppy cost, and what should you expect to pay for food and other supplies in the first year of ownership?
A Sheepadoodle puppy will typically cost between $1,500 and $2,500. However, the exact price will depend on factors such as the breeder's reputation, the dog's pedigree, and whether the puppy has been trained. In addition to the purchase price, you can expect to pay for food, vet bills, and other supplies in the first year of ownership. The cost of food will depend on the size of the dog and whether you choose to feed them dry kibble or wet food. Vet bills will vary depending on the dog's health and whether they need any vaccinations or other treatments. Finally, you'll need to budget for supplies such as a collar, leash, bedding, toys, and grooming tools. With proper care, a Sheepadoodle can be a loyal and loving companion for many years to come.

Are there any good resources available to help train a Sheepadoodle puppy once it's been brought home?
A Sheepadoodle is a cross between a Standard Poodle and an Old English Sheepdog which means they are known for being intelligent, friendly, and affectionate. Due to their high intelligence, Sheepadoodles are very easy to train. However, like all dogs, they will require some patience and consistency on your part. There are a number of excellent resources available to help you train your Sheepadoodle puppy. One great option is the book Zak George's Dog Training Revolution: The Complete Guide to Raising the Perfect Pet. This book covers all the basics of dog training, including housetraining, crate training, sit/stay/come commands, and leash walking. Another great resource is Training the Best Dog Ever: A 5-Week Program Using the Power of Positive Reinforcement by Larry Kay This book covers everything from teaching basic manners to tricks. With a little time and effort, you can have your Sheepadoodle puppy trained in no time!
